In this version, the dynamic lighting – which was pretty nifty on the 360 – was superb as it cast the right amount of light and shadow across the various landscapes and cityscapes… and since I’m a photographer by trade (shameless linking here), that sort of thing really appeals to me. baddies across Asia – so much so, that I occasionally found myself oggling the locales instead of paying attention to which Chinese soldier I was supposed to be putting a bullet though. Overall, I gotta say that the Xbox One version of the game is much more immersive than the 360 edition simply due to the more precise CGI and better audio fidelity: all of the CG models are nice and crisp, and the textures are remarkably precise.Īll of the game levels felt just that much more real as you slog through legions of A.I. Plus, I got double the Achievement unlocks for the same game – which is pretty fuckin’ sweet if you ask me. Why would I do that? I liked certain missions when doing the 360 version, so I figured it would be great to do them again. Well, after buying it on Day 1 last fall and subsequently beating the campaign about 9 hours later, I kinda just let the game pass from my active play cycle – but since I now subscribe to the EA Access service, Battlefield 4 was one of the first 4 games made available for download from their vault of free games (minus the $4/mo subscription fee) and I decided to grab the Xbox One copy along with Peggle 2.Īfter a 2 nights/1 day download (I have unlimited interweb access without data capping – but it’s 3MB/sec ASDL… so the 35GB download took a while), I sat down and gave the campaign a second run though in full 108op. Yeah, yeah… I know! Battlefield 4 has been out for ages, so why am I covering it right now?
